COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya donated bikes and toys to Southern Nevada children over the weekend, fulfilling holiday wishes and spreading community cheer.  KSNV
  • Walker Furniture announced that 30 local families will receive free furniture as part of its annual Home for the Holidays campaign (the list of recipients was shared today) to bring festive cheer to the community.  KSNV
  • Jewish congregations in Henderson have increased security measures following Sunday's deadly attack at Bondi Beach to ensure that Tuesday night's outdoor Menorah lighting celebration proceeds safely + Henderson police and private guards are providing extra patrols at local worship sites.  KSNV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Station Casinos opened a new high-limit room and parking garage at Durango, providing 1,800 free parking spots to help guests access the expanded gaming floor. The upgrade is part of a $100 million project & may lead to a second tower soon.  KSNV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A Hanukkah celebration held Monday night at the Clark County Government Center highlighted unity and education amid growing antisemitism. Community leaders lit the menorah and opened a special exhibit (curated by Nevada Center for Humanity) that is available through January.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Dec. 15, in Clark County court, Richard Hsieh filed an objection disputing a purported 2015 will for late Tony Hsieh (Zappos CEO), calling it a forgery. His attorneys say subpoenas and records indicate the signatures were faked.  KSNV
  • Squatters continue to occupy properties in Paradise Palms despite action by local officials; Commissioner Tick Segerblom said property owners on Desert Inn Road will soon be required to secure their properties or face higher penalties.  KSNV
