COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Multiple businesses and organizations in southern Nevada are hosting holiday donation drives for toys, pet supplies, and tools to help local nonprofits, schools and families in need—drives run from November 10 through December 31 at locations including Fingerprinting Express on N Rainbow Blvd, King David Memorial Chapel on E Eldorado Lane and a Professional Women in Building event at D.R. Horton in Henderson.  KSNV
  • The Archdiocese of Las Vegas and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched their first joint food drive today, delivering over 32,000 pounds of food for local pantries—sourced from Salt Lake City's Bishops' Central Storehouse—at Brady IFC's warehouse ahead of Thanksgiving. Volunteers from both groups will help distribute the donations to families facing food insecurity.  KSNV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Spirit Airlines has cut several West Coast flights from Las Vegas and this move is expected to raise travel costs by 10% to 15% for residents planning Thanksgiving trips.   • Reid International Airport is preparing for what could be its busiest travel day the Sunday after Thanksgiving — officials advise travelers to check flight details and plan to arrive early. Airport staff are coordinating extra security and logistics to manage the increased passenger flow.  KSNV
  • The Regional Transportation Commission urges commuters to plan ahead for busy Thanksgiving weekend travel times — the travel forecast shows major highways will be congested and recommends leaving early to avoid delays.  KSNV
