COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Nov. 14th, 100 children from local nonprofits enjoyed a holiday shopping spree at Henderson Goodwill when Santa Claus arrived aboard a fire engine—firefighters and police officers chaperoned the event while each child received a $100 gift card.  KSNV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Holiday events are underway across the region as Las Vegas debuts a dazzling pop-up at The Chandelier on November 28 and Mystic Falls and Shark Reef Aquarium plan festive displays for families. The City of Henderson will host WinterFest—free two-night celebrations that add local flair to the season.  KSNV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Nevada remained steady as of Thursday with a statewide average of $3.92 for regular gasoline, with Las Vegas at $4.01 and Reno at $3.95 after a brief spike, though prices are still 15 cents higher than this time last year. AAA said prices are expected to stay the same or drop lower as travelers prepare for Thanksgiving.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students, parents, and staff from Clark County School District walked to school on Friday to celebrate Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, honoring Ruby Bridges who broke racial barriers by integrating an all-white school. The event also stressed student safety and urged everyone to work against bullying and inequality.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials confirmed that full SNAP benefits totaling about $33 million were transmitted to nearly 216,000 households following the end of the government shutdown—benefits are now funded through September with December benefits set to follow the normal schedule.  KSNV

  • Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson explained on The Tonight Show how her game-winning shot—despite dancing on the rim—helped secure a 90-88 win in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals, with coach Becky Hammon drawing a line during a timeout. She also recalled her early basketball days and joked about missing a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award.  KSNV
