- ➤ The Las Vegas Aces will host a food drive next week at their Henderson headquarters on Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.—collecting non-perishable foods like canned proteins and dry breakfast items to help local families. The team is also offering a digital donation option through its partner Three Square for those unable to attend in person. KSNV
- ➤ The city of Henderson will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Desert Symphony Park on November 19 at 1 p.m. at 875 Cadence View Way—community members will enjoy modern play structures, basketball courts, a turf area, a skate park, and a mural highlighting local art designed for families and skaters. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ NV Energy told the Public Utilities Commission that it overcharged customers $65 million from 2001 to 2025. Homeowners like Gariety Pruitt reported low refunds, and the company said it will begin full repayments early next year — a step aimed at restoring trust. KSNV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Trustees will discuss a proposal on Thursday, Nov. 13 to delay Las Vegas area school start times by 30 minutes—changes that would shift high schools to 7:30 a.m., middle schools to 8:30 a.m. and elementary schools to 9:30 a.m. A survey of over 48,000 responses showed strong support for later starts despite concerns about after-school scheduling. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ In Clark County, heat-related deaths reached 279 so far in 2025 and officials noted that 90% of cases need up to 90 days for investigation—so the final count may rise. KSNV
- ➤ The Southern Nevada Health District reported its first flu-related death of the season in Clark County—a man in his 80s—while noting that influenza cases are beginning to rise. Health officials advised residents to get their flu shots to help prevent severe illness. KSNV
