COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local organizations and churches in the Las Vegas valley are providing food and vital resources as the government shutdown continues — food distributions are scheduled on dates in November and on various days of the week to support community members in need.  KSNV

CULTURE NEWS

  • A new study from Vivint using Yelp and Google Trends data from 2024 to 2025 ranked over 80 U.S. cities for haunted house attractions—four Nevada cities made the list with Enterprise as the top city and Henderson ranked eighth as Halloween approaches.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The I-15 South Widening project will close the Starr Ave on-ramp to southbound I-15 for soundwall work today from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the Beatty Days Parade will close SR-374 near 2nd and 1st St and US-95 between 1st St and Amargosa St on Nov. 1 from 10 to 10:30 a.m.  KSNV
  • Nevada faces a SNAP crisis as a 29-day government shutdown means food aid may run out for 495000 residents while many federal workers still miss their paychecks. Gov. Lombardo said he will use $39M in state funds to help local food banks—he plans to deploy the National Guard as lawmakers push for more federal help.  KSNV

  • Today, NICU babies at St. Rose Dominican’s Siena Hospital took part in an early Boo Bash where they wore costumes given by parents and hospital staff—giving families a bright moment during a hard time.  KSNV
