- ➤ Three Square, a Las Vegas area food bank, announced it will expand its emergency response as the federal shutdown continues, boosting food supplies & opening a temporary donation site. The relief effort will include food distributions at several locations, including a distribution center in Henderson on Saturday, Nov. 1. KSNV

- ➤ Family and friends gathered at Abundant Life Church to honor 12-year-old Jojo Magee-Thomas, who was killed last month when a van struck him while riding his e-scooter near Bonanza and Lamb — and his death is prompting local officials to review safety measures for young riders. KSNV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Casino officials at Durango Casino & Resort announced plans for a $385 million expansion that will add a 275,000-square-foot podium featuring 400 extra slot machines, a 36-lane bowling alley + luxury movie theaters along with new dining options and entertainment areas. Construction will begin in January 2026 and is set to take 18 months, with the new amenities expected to open in 2027. KSNV

- ➤ Roughly half a million Nevadans risk losing SNAP benefits next month as many families already face hardship. Local business owners in Henderson report urgent concerns—warning that food insecurity may worsen—while lawmakers in Washington are urged to act quickly. KSNV
