HEALTH NEWS

  • The Southern Nevada Health District confirmed a measles case in Clark County when a visitor from out of state passed through Terminal 3 at Harry Reid International Airport on Oct. 13 and may have exposed others. A doctor explained that symptoms can appear in seven to 21 days and advised anyone exposed to contact their health care provider—low vaccination rates heighten the risk.  KSNV
  • The Southern Nevada Health District announces updated COVID-19 vaccines for people six months and older at its Immunization Clinics and now offers seasonal flu and RSV shots for recommended groups. Private insurance, Medicaid, and free programs give access by appointment — those recently infected or previously vaccinated must wait the recommended period before getting a new dose.  KSNV
  • A whooping cough case was confirmed at Coronado High School in Henderson — the Southern Nevada Health District urged parents to keep an eye on their children's health and to check that vaccines are up-to-date. They advised contacting a healthcare provider if a cough or other symptoms develop, especially for children with weakened immunity.  KSNV
