Good morning, Henderson. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 23rd of October.
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local traffic safety advocates and county leaders warned residents to use extra caution on roads ahead of Halloween as data showed 277 deaths in Nevada from January through September—185 of which occurred in Clark County with 59 involving pedestrians. They urged parents to equip trick-or-treaters with reflective gear and follow the 'Inside by 9' campaign to help reduce impaired driving and speeding. KSNV
- ➤ The Henderson City Council approved updates to Titles 7 and 19 last Tuesday, strengthening animal welfare protections and expanding livestock allowances in rural neighborhoods (including horses, cattle, goats, and more). The revised code also incorporates Reba's Law (AB381) to allow vehicle entry for animal rescues and offers adoption fee waivers for veterans and first responders. KSNV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Raiders informed defensive end Maxx Crosby — a four-time Pro Bowler who signed a multi-year extension last offseason — that he would not be traded amid a 2-5 start, quelling rising trade speculation. Crosby remains committed to staying with the team rather than joining another contender. KSNV
- ➤ UNLV Lady Rebels head coach Lindy La Rocque signed a multi-year contract extension that starts at $350,000 for the 2025-26 season and will grow to $400,000 by 2029-30. The deal includes retention and performance bonuses along with a buyout that begins at $750,000 and lowers each year—positioning her salary at the top in the Mountain West Conference for women’s basketball.
