- ➤ A Las Vegas-based convenience store chain, Green Valley Grocery, reached a deal to sell its 87 locations—pending regulatory approval—to rival Anabi Oil. The new owner will keep the Green Valley Grocery name to serve the local community. KSNV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clark County schools remained challenged by staffing shortages as 163 special education vacancies stayed open out of 320 classroom openings at the start of the school year. Superintendent Jhone Ebert said the district is working with UNLV and using a new $5000 bonus and $45 million state aid to fill hard-to-fill positions—while teachers and a pending lawsuit claim staffing is insufficient and unqualified. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Greater Nevada Credit Union has launched a Government Shutdown Assistance Loan—offering 0% interest for six months and no payments for 90 days—for eligible government workers impacted by the shutdown; employees can apply for up to $10,000 and seek deferment options by calling the lending hotline. KSNV
- ➤ The Nevada Supreme Court rejected the NFL's request for a rehearing in former Raiders coach Jon Gruden’s lawsuit—an order signed by all seven justices on Thursday lets his case continue in District Court with a status check set for Nov 24. KSNV
- ➤ NV Energy announced a range of programs today to help federal workers pay their bills by offering payment plans and waiving late fees—federal workers in need may also qualify for the state energy assistance program to keep their energy services uninterrupted. KSNV
