  • The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada honored Hispanic and Latino volunteers and staff during Hispanic Heritage Month for their vital work in providing lifesaving services and disaster relief to the local community. Their bilingual skills help ensure that blood donations and emergency resources reach those in need—strengthening care in the area.  KSNV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Lee Canyon will wrap up its second annual Fall Fest on October 4th with a full day of live music, food trucks, local brews and family activities—features include rides on the Bristlecone Skyway, disc golf, axe throwing, a skate ramp and mountain biking. Guests are invited to enjoy performances by Johnny Hazard and The Wedge Brothers while bringing chairs and blankets for comfort.  KSNV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Drivers in Henderson saw the price for regular gas drop by two cents to $3.90 as cheaper winter-blend gasoline was introduced — however, looming Gulf storms during hurricane season could affect future supplies.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Thursday's CCSD school board meeting, parents and staff raised concerns after teachers made negative social media remarks following Charlie Kirk’s death — district officials confirmed those teachers are not currently assigned to classrooms, while some parents questioned the clarity of social media guidelines and one unenrolled their child over the issue. The debate centers on balancing free speech rights with maintaining a responsible educational environment.  KSNV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nine-year-old Isaiah left Sunrise Hospital today after nearly three weeks in care as hospital staff celebrated his recovery by decorating his room with his favorite superheroes—Spider-man and Iron Man. His mother, Rebekah, has also returned home and is being monitored for a blood clot and mild internal bleeding.  KSNV
