- ➤ On Veterans Day, November 11, Bay Law Injury Attorneys will award a fully functional Tiny Home and its property to a deserving veteran in Southern Nevada built by high school students in a Shop Class program. Local veterans groups will work with Bay Law to review applicants and complete the required details for the award. KSNV
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out Tuesday night at Townsite Solar Facility near Interstate 11 and U.S. 95 in Boulder City and, with no reported injuries, Henderson firefighters assisted as the blaze reached a smoldering phase at 12:30 a.m. today—company representatives now manage the incident. KSNV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Clark County School District is facing a $70 million funding shortfall due to enrollment coming in 3,600 below projections—schools are cutting staff hours and reducing positions to cover a $34 million gap. At Fay Galloway Elementary in Henderson, a third-grade teacher will be removed, which will raise class sizes from fewer than 16 students to around 25, causing concern for academic support. KSNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clark County Judge Erika Ballou was ordered to serve a six month suspension without salary and two year probation after she failed to follow a Nevada Supreme Court order in a criminal case involving Mia Christman—she must also complete a specialized training program before returning to the bench. KSNV
- ➤ State and local leaders celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Sept 23 as they marked the completion of the I-15/Tropicana Avenue overhaul, now known as Dropicana. The $305 million project rebuilt the Tropicana overpass, replaced freeway ramps, and reconfigured key connections to improve traffic flow. KSNV
- ➤ Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar said that DOJ requests for voter data risk misuse of sensitive personal information — he stated that more transparency is needed before sharing any details. He noted that Nevada is updating its voter roll system to keep it accurate for upcoming elections. KSNV
