CRIME NEWS

  • Henderson Police Sergeant Scott Alward was caught on his body-worn camera striking 38-year-old Nakeisha Kelly near Morrell Park in October during a call for battery—internal affairs has reviewed the incident and officers arrived soon after.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • During a special board meeting on Tuesday, the school board unanimously approved a new teacher contract that raises pay, improves health insurance contributions and adds safety immunity for teachers in threatening situations. The 76-page deal, which allocates $214 million for 18,000 educators and provides bonuses for Title I schools, will extend through June 30—highlighting efforts to retain quality educators.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clark County officials are opening several cooling stations—set in shaded areas with seating—to help residents and individuals experiencing homelessness get relief from extreme heat from today until Saturday, with the centers operating during daytime hours to offer a safe space for hydration.  KSNV
