EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ In Southern Nevada, more parents are choosing charter schools for their children because they want smaller classes and different lessons such as studying great books, Latin, and cursive. State data shows over 72,000 students are enrolled in charter schools, up from 42,300 in 2018+ new charters and transfers from public schools have helped boost enrollment. KSNV
- ➤ CCSD bus drivers and dietitians are preparing to transport students and serve healthy meals on Monday morning for about 120,000 children as school begins, and parents can track buses with the district's onboard app (officials are hiring 42 new drivers to ease route adjustments). KSNV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Raiders tied the Seahawks with a 23 to 23 score in a preseason game in Washington (played Thursday night) where coach Pete Carroll led his team and quarterback Geno Smith started before Aiden O’Connell took charge. Reporters said the game taught lessons that the team will use as it prepares for the upcoming regular season match. KSNV
