ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A motorcyclist died when his bike hit a public bus near Racetrack Road and Burkholder Boulevard early Monday morning as the bus turned left on a flashing yellow light and the driver stayed at the scene and received a ticket, police said.  KSNV

CRIME NEWS

  • Christian Lentz pleaded guilty to attacking his 73-year-old Asian neighbor in May 2023 and was sentenced this morning to five years probation—90 days in detention, three years of treatment, and a $7,000 restitution order with the warning that any probation violation could lead to prison time.  KSNV
  • On Monday, Henderson police responded to a call at Henderson Hospital after an adult woman reported alleged sex trafficking and then chased a suspect on foot and in a car—he nearly struck a mother with her children before officers rammed his vehicle into a rock and took him into custody while treating all parties for minor injuries.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Joe Lombardo closed the legislative session by signing nine new bills today, including SB 494 which creates the Nevada Health Authority—an effort to lower healthcare costs—and AB 463 that cuts the waiting time for insurer approvals, along with Miya’s Law to improve tenant safety.  KSNV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Smoke from the Gifford Fire in California has lowered visibility to about one mile in parts of Las Vegas today, affecting Henderson residents as doctors warn people with asthma and other lung problems to stay indoors. The National Weather Service predicts another wave of smoke overnight — those at risk should keep their rescue inhalers handy.  KSNV
