- ➤ Robert Crane, founder of Bob’s Bikes for Needy Kids, died on July 15 after battling prostate cancer — he spent over 10 years giving away more than 1,000 refurbished bikes to local children and families. A GoFundMe was set up to support his family. 8 News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chief Reggie Rader was sworn in Tuesday during a special city council meeting to lead Henderson Police after former Chief Hollie Chadwick was dismissed following 23 years of service—he promised to boost transparency and work with the community to strengthen the department as the city grows. - ➤ Clark County warned residents today that a fraudulent jury duty citation is circulating in the Las Vegas area—people who receive a notice claiming they missed jury duty and owe a fee should ignore it, as the county clerk does not send such citations. KSNV
- ➤ Nevada courts handled more than 3,100 cases in 2024 with interpreter assistance, so the Supreme Court of Nevada is seeking bilingual residents to register as certified court interpreters before Sept. 22 for the Fall exam. Oral exams are scheduled in Las Vegas and Carson City and an online Written Orientation Workshop begins mid-July—applicants must pass a written test with at least an 80 percent score. 8 News Now

- ➤ Southern Nevada faced 29 heat-related deaths so far this year as extreme heat continues to impact the region. The Clark County Coroner’s Office stated that 27 cases have been fully reported while two are pending next-of-kin notification—official investigations can take up to 90 days. 8 News Now
