- ➤ United Way of Southern Nevada activated its Emergency Assistance and Community Needs Fund to offset a federal pause on 1.2 million dollars in aid for Clark County’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program. The program had supported over 680,000 people since 2020 and was set to help more than 100,000 individuals this year — United Way is urging community donations to keep essential services running. - ➤ Today, the City of Henderson and CSN opened applications for the second cohort of a free six-month small business assistance program that will help local entrepreneurs build resilience with personal guidance, workshops, and a $5,000 service grant—space is limited and selected participants will work with NV Grow counselors to create a Resiliency Work Plan addressing key business challenges. - ➤ Las Vegas police issued 56 citations and confiscated nearly 5,000 pounds of illegal fireworks in Clark County as Independence Day nears; officials said only 'Safe + Sane' fireworks from licensed sellers can be used from June 28 to July 4 and violators face fines starting at $500 up to $10,000. 8 News Now

- ➤ After the announcement of a new police chief, Deputy Chief Jonathan Boucher retired from HPD on June 19 after more than 22 years of service — he had been given an ultimatum to resign or be let go, similar to an earlier chief. KSNV
- ➤ The Henderson Police Officers Association and the Henderson Police Supervisors Association declared an impasse in contract negotiations with the city after repeated meetings did not result in a wage increase. They argued that the city's refusal to address cost of living and PERS retirement concerns will worsen manpower shortages in the department — prompting a call for renewed, meaningful talks. KSNV
