- ➤ Three Square Food Bank and DoorDash’s Project Dash deliver over 20,000 meals monthly to homebound seniors in Southern Nevada to ease food insecurity—volunteers pack meals at the warehouse and Dashers provide much-needed social contact during delivery. The program has provided over 500,000 meals to date and continues to help seniors facing transportation challenges. 8 News Now

- ➤ Regents renewed Nevada State University's contract with president DeRionne Pollard in Henderson. Her four-year contract runs through August 2029—after she boosted enrollment and launched new programs since 2021. KSNV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A weak low pressure area brought slightly cooler temperatures on Friday with highs reaching 105 instead of the typical 99, but severe drought conditions still affect the region. By Father's Day weekend, high pressure will drive valley temperatures to between 103 and 109 with mid-80s lows while Lake Mead sits at 1,056 feet—rainfall remains slightly below normal. KSNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Nevada lawmakers passed Senate Bill 359 and Gov. Joe Lombardo signed it last week, and the law will take effect Oct. 1. The bill lets courts lower the upfront ticket fine and combine minor civil and criminal infractions in one hearing—giving judges more flexibility. 8 News Now
- ➤ Governor Lombardo concluded the legislative session after a 10-day review of 605 bills—signing 518 into law and vetoing 87 while focusing on education and housing—and he will soon host ceremonial signings for Senate Bill 460 and Assembly Bill 540. The governor emphasized his cautious approach to protecting Nevadans from overreaching legislation. KSNV
