COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A block party is taking place today at Silverado Ranch Community Center, where Commissioner Naft will join local residents for festivities featuring live music, food, and neighborly fun.  KSNV
  • The Nevada SPCA will spotlight an adoptable pet during Furever Home Friday on Friday, June 5 at a local venue in Henderson — the event seeks to connect residents with a potential new family member.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A study commissioned by Superintendent Jhone Ebert finds that CCSD could save up to $79M a year through improvements in software licensing, bus routing, and energy performance (savings will begin in the 2027-2028 school year) and will be reviewed by the School Board on June 3.  KSNV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Campers at Mount Charleston must follow Stage 1 fire restrictions that began on Friday. The rules ban wood and charcoal fires except in developed recreation sites — gas stoves remain allowed and violators face a $250 fine.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Nevada Department of Transportation and the Regional Transportation Commission will start the $22M I-11 SafeTech project tomorrow on I-11 between Summerlin Parkway and the Spaghetti Bowl interchange to add gantries and wrong-way alerts — initial work brings nightly HOV lane closures and lane reductions until early June.  KSNV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy told Spittin’ Chiclets he is upset NHL teams must secure Golden Knights’ approval before interviewing him and said he wants to return to coaching. He noted the Kings + Oilers have shown interest pending his contract expiration at the end of 2026-27 season.  KSNV
