Good morning, Henderson.

Amid soaring temperatures, Clark County Animal Protection Services urged pet owners today to use supplemental cooling measures like misters or kiddie pools when temperatures are expected to exceed 105, noting that leaving pets in parked vehicles is dangerous.
The agency emphasized the legal need for extra cooling and fresh water—failure to act can lead to quick, lethal heat exposure for pets.
🏛️ Government
The City of Henderson opened the new Fire Station 81 on Thursday at 1600 S.
Boulder Highway, and residents toured the modern facility where firefighters will serve over 32,800 people. Fire Chief Scott Vivier said the move—made by repurposing an old Camping World site—will help cut response times for emergency calls.
🏥 Health
New CDC data showed a 27% decline in overdose deaths across the U.S. during 2024 while Nevada's cases increased by 3.4%, and DEA official Kevin Adams said meth now causes more drug deaths than fentanyl—local experts linked the rise to Las Vegas’ unique population and party trends.
