- ➤ Arbor View High School students are mourning senior McKenzie Scott, who was struck by an impaired driver at a marked crosswalk on May 2—her death has led classmates to demand better safety measures and the school will honor her at the graduation ceremony. KSNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former police chief Hollie Chadwick—ousted earlier this year—announced her bid for mayor when she formally declared her candidacy at City Hall on May 22nd. The announcement comes after a brief tenure marked by controversy. KSNV
- ➤ The Nevada SPCA is helping pet owners by offering $5 microchips every Wednesday as a new pet rule takes effect on August 4—dogs and cats over 4 months old in Clark County must be microchipped. Appointments are needed—pet owners are urged to check for cancellations if spots fill quickly. KSNV

- ➤ Today, the City of Henderson (officials said) broke ground on the new West Henderson Fieldhouse behind Chicken N Pickle at the corner of St. Rose and Maryland Parkways. The 160,000 square-foot facility will feature convertible basketball and pickleball courts, hybrid turf fields and community spaces (with KemperSports contributing $10 million and additional funds coming from public sources) and is set to open in fall 2026.
