ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Nevada increased by seven cents over the past week to an average of $3.96 per gallon for regular gasoline — the rise comes as nationwide demand grows with the busy summer travel season approaching. KSNV
FINANCE NEWS
- ➤ State regulators filed a petition to investigate NV Energy after staff found the utility may have overcharged over 80,000 residential and multi-family customers by more than $17 million since 2001—the filing also noted that refunds were capped for some customers. KSNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Lombardo said he will push for a hearing on two DUI bills that aim to toughen penalties, one of which would allow charging vehicular homicide without three prior DUIs while the other proposes stronger penalties for DUI offenses — both bills face delays, with one stalled over fiscal impact concerns and the session ends on June 2. The governor expects one piece to move forward early next week and plans to sign it once it clears the Legislature. KSNV
- ➤ Sam Mirejovsky, partner at Sam — Ash Injury Law, explained that riders and parents in Clark County should review safety measures and liability details for e-bike accidents. He noted that new rules will take effect on May 21st. 8 News Now
- ➤ Construction crews will work along Maryland Parkway near Tropicana Avenue from May 19 at 6 a.m. to May 21 at 6 a.m.—northbound Maryland Parkway will be closed while southbound traffic and Tropicana Avenue will be reduced to two lanes. Drivers are advised to detour via Eastern Avenue or University Center Drive, especially with CSN and CCSD commencement ceremonies on May 19 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on May 20 at 8:30 a.m. Clark County
