- ➤ Henderson police investigated after a body was found just before 8 a.m. Tuesday near a wash by Via De Pellegrini and Via Della Fortuna on May 6 while search teams supporting a missing person case used bikes, UTVs, K9s, drones, and helicopters — early findings show no signs of foul play. KSNV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A popular hiking trail on Mt. Charleston reopened after repairs from 2023 storm damage, the U.S. Forest Service said Tuesday that the Cathedral Rock Trail and Deer Creek Picnic Site are now open—Mary Jane Falls, Trail Canyon and Upper Bristlecone trails remain closed with reopenings expected in fall 2027 and fall 2029. - ➤ The City of Henderson is holding a groundbreaking ceremony today for the West Henderson Fieldhouse, a new $70M indoor sports and entertainment complex built behind Chicken N Pickle near St. Rose and Maryland Parkways, expected to open in fall. City officials said the facility will create 238 permanent jobs + generate economic benefits including $1.5M in annual tax revenue. 8 News Now
- ➤ U.S. Rep. Susie Lee sent a letter to GOP Rep. Mark Amodei asking him to withdraw an amendment that would sell Clark County public land to help fund a federal reconciliation bill — she said the plan lacked acreage details and was introduced without consulting fellow Nevada lawmakers — and her criticism comes as other members of the delegation have expressed concerns.
