- ➤ Project Marilyn, a local nonprofit, held a period packing party on Sunday to fill a gap in donations for feminine care supplies—founder Wendi Schweigart said the period kits, which contain enough supplies for a full cycle, will help women and schoolgirls who struggle to afford these essentials. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Over the weekend, the Art Festival was held on Water Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, drawing thousands of residents to view work by 132 artists plus live music from Grammy-nominated bands in a free Mother's Day celebration. The event also featured art demonstrations and live mural installations that highlighted the creative talents of local and regional artists. KSNV
- ➤ Starting Friday, May 30, M Resort Spa Casino will host Dive-In Movie Nights at the M Pool featuring a new 800-square-foot LED screen that will show films like 'The Wild Robot' on May 30, 'Toy Story' on June 13, and 'Moana 2' on September 19—admission is $10 with doors opening at 7 p.m. and movies starting at 7:30 p.m. as seating is limited to the first 400 guests. - ➤ The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is inviting residents to join its Summer Challenge program (designed to keep summer learning fun) by offering reading and activity opportunities for all ages with prizes from local partners, and the program will run from May 15 to July 31. Kickoff events at 25 branches will take place from May 16 to 27 (with early sign-ups from May 1 to 14 eligible for a drawing for NBA 2K Summer League or Hamilton tickets). KSNV
- ➤ The Clark County School District hired its first woman and Asian American superintendent, Jhone Ebert, last month after a unanimous board vote. She signed a four-year, $385,000 contract in April—she now leads a diverse district with 70% Title 1 schools. 8 News Now
