EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Canvas, a learning management system used by local schools (including UNLV), went offline for hours after hackers targeted the site; it was restored Thursday night and education officials are monitoring any fallout. KSNV
- ➤ The Clark County School District updated its graduation regalia policy after settling a legal dispute with the ACLU — ending the challenge in Las Vegas area public schools. The changes will apply to upcoming graduation ceremonies. KSNV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NDOT will close the ramp from southbound U.S. 95 to southbound Interstate 15 at the Spaghetti Bowl from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday starting Sept. 16 for remaining Project Neon work (crews complete final tasks). KSNV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Seventeen Americans aboard a cruise ship exposed to the Andes hantavirus are set to disembark on Sunday at the Canary Islands and then be quarantined in Omaha, Nebraska. UNLV researchers (currently monitoring no cases in Nevada) say they will closely track the virus via wastewater testing. KSNV
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Blue Skye and Larson broke ground on Six on Tin, a tiny-home infill project on a long-vacant parcel near downtown Henderson’s Historic Water Street District. The project aims to expand attainable housing options — a new development to provide more community homes. KSNV
