  • MGM Resorts donated new athletic shoes to more than 700 students at Bilbray James Elementary School through a partnership with nonprofit Shoes That Fit—15 employee volunteers distributed the shoes after a grant supported the project.  KSNV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities in Henderson intensified their search Tuesday for an adult man swept away by a flash flood near Major Avenue and Burkholder Boulevard—about 30 searchers joined as police led the operation.  KSNV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A recent study names Henderson among the fastest growing U.S. cities for populations over 250,000, with its number of residents rising by 22% from 266,000 to 324,000 over the past decade. The report noted Henderson’s average home price remains accessible at $486,000—while self-storage inventory increased 41% to meet rising demand.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nevada State University will launch a new fully online Master of Science in Nursing Leadership track for registered nurses in fall 2025 + program director Michelle Oddi said the innovative curriculum focuses on caring and competence to help address the current nursing shortage.  KSNV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • BLM Nevada is urging residents to take steps during Wildfire Awareness Month as severe drought conditions persist and wildfire risks remain high. The agency advises making homes fire-resistant and preparing evacuation plans (such as clearing flammable vegetation) to help protect families and property.  KSNV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clark County commissioners approved a $100K settlement to resolve a hostile workplace lawsuit filed in federal court by four employees against former public administrator Robert Telles—who is serving a 28-year sentence for murder—while the settlement assigns $50K to Aleisha Goodwin, $30K to Jessica Coleman, and $10K each to Rita Page Reid and Noraine Pagdanganan. The decision follows allegations that Telles intimidated and isolated employees at the Public Administrator’s Office, a claim the county is now settling without further comment.  KSNV
