COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Signs of HOPE invites Southern Nevada residents to enroll in a 50-hour advocacy training course to support Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities, with applications due by Feb. 20 and classes beginning March 2 — volunteers must be 18, pass screenings, and some roles require 21.  KSNV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Hayworth will host a hiring event for front-of-house and back-of-house roles (seeking team members for its upcoming debut) in Henderson as it prepares to open its doors.  KSNV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At yesterday's board meeting, teachers and parents raised concerns when district budget cuts were discussed, which will send over 1,200 employees into surplus ahead of the 2026-27 school year. Surplus meetings (scheduled for April) will give affected staff a chance to apply for reassignment.  KSNV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials warned this week that medetomidine (known as rhino tranq) was detected in less than 1% of illicit drug samples in Southern Nevada; the potent veterinary sedative can cause profound sedation and does not respond to naloxone.  KSNV
