EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clark County School District leaders reported a drop in student suspensions and expulsions over the past three years in local schools. Officials noted the trend as a positive shift in discipline (details on future initiatives are being discussed).  KSNV
  • CCSD announced that nearly 1,200 employees will be moved from their current schools in the fall due to a $50 million budget cut, but teachers can expect open positions at other schools through routine attrition + retirements.   • Health officials reported on Wednesday that medetomidine (rhino tranq), a sedative 100 to 200 times stronger than xylazine, was found in under 1% of illicit drug samples since last July. No overdose deaths are linked to the drug, but providers urge caution.  KSNV
